My toddler has been blessed/cursed with her mama’s hair. Fairly thin and wavy, but vulnerable to becoming a tangled mess should you even look at it the wrong way.
Because she’s so darn active – and so insistent upon mashing food into her hair on the daily – she gets a lot of tangles. And combing out her tangled hair definitely isn’t on her list of favorite activities.

Of course, I didn’t want to use anything that contained harmful phthalates or other ingredients that may impact our health. Just as I’m on a personal journey to making healthier choices when doing laundry, cleaning the house, washing the dishes, and with the products I give my daughter (i.e. her baby bottles, sippy cups, baby spoons, toddler pillows, etc), so too did I want to find a natural choice for her shampoo, detangler, conditioner, and baby lotion.
Which brings us to this article – a place I can share what I’ve learned with you.

As with my articles about natural baby shampoo and the best detangler for kids (coming soon), I put together this list with help from the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Skin Deep® Database. The products I’ve chosen to include on this list are all rated low hazard, which means they are rated either 1 or 2 on of a scale of 10, with 1 being the best and 10 being the worst.
I’ve also only included products that are available on Amazon, because convenience is never a bad thing! I buy a lot of my family’s basics via Amazon Prime, because I just don’t always have time to get to the store. Or, more truthfully, I almost never have time to get to the store, because: #momlife
