Call me a millennial mom if you must, but I find myself irresistibly drawn to the Nook Pebble mattress.

They are just So. Darn. Cute.

I also love the mattresses are crib ready and don’t require any sheets. Less bedding means less laundry. A happy bonus for anyone with young kids around the house.

But just because the Nook Pebble crib mattresses are Instagrammable, doesn’t mean they’re the right choice for your baby. Anyone who’s ordered an outfit off of Instagram knows what I’m talking about.

Keen to find out what whether the Nook Pebble crib mattresses have the substance to back up their style, we dug into to learn more about the Nook Pebble mattresses, including the Nook Pebble Pure, Nook Pebble Air, Nook Pebble Lite, and the newcomer: the Nook Pebble Dream Cotton.

What Makes the Nook Pebble Mattress Special?

Nook Sleep currently makes 4 different crib mattresses: the the Nook Pebble Pure, Nook Pebble Air, Nook Pebble Lite, and the Nook Pebble Dream Cotton.

While the inside-part of the mattresses are all different, the pebble cover (“wrap” in Nook speak”) are all pretty much the same.

What’s the Pebble Wrap Made Of?

On their website, Nook describes their wraps as an “Organic cotton and eucalyptus fiber wrap.”

That’s only part of the story.

Yes, the wrap is made from organic cotton and eucalyptus fiber.

However, it also incorporates an organic cotton/non-toxic poly blend, zinc, and a nylon zipper.

These materials combine to create a mattress cover that’s anti-microbial, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic.

According to Nook, the natural moisture wicking properties of eucalyptus is one of the benefits of using eucalyptus fiber in their Pebble wraps.

What’s Up with the Pebble Design?

According to Nook Sleep, the pebble design is more than an aesthetic choice.

The Pebble Crib Mattress Cover design promotes airflow over and through the core, creating an oxygen-rich sleep space for baby.

With that in mind, Nook claims all of their Pebble models are breathable crib mattresses. Great news for keeping your baby cool in hot weather.

What About Practicality?

Nook describes their crib mattresses as “crib ready.”

That means you don’t need to use sheets on these mattresses – you can just pop them into the crib and lay your baby directly on top of the pebble wrap.

The wrap is also removable, and (thankfully) machine washable.

What About Safety?

Nook has quite a few certifications for their products, lending a little extra peace of mind that what the company claims is true.

All of their products are Greenguard GOLD certified for VOC emissions. Their mattresses that incorporate foam use CertiPUR-US® certified foam.

You can see a full list of their certification on their website.
